At Savvy Tech Advice, trust and transparency are at the core of everything we do, which is why it’s essential to inform our clients about a recent impersonation scam targeting small businesses like ours.

We’ve recently learned that fraudulent emails are circulating that impersonate Savvy Tech Advice and Erin Dittner, offering a “free SEO & compliance audit.” These messages use our business name, tone, and even our Wix Partner credentials to appear legitimate.

These emails are not from Savvy Tech Advice and should be treated as fraudulent. They are scams designed to gain your trust and potentially collect sensitive information.

⚠️ What the Scam Looks Like

The fraudulent emails typically include subject lines like:

“🛡️ Quick Fix Needed: Protect Your Wix Website Performance”

They warn that your website may have SEO or compliance issues, then offer a free “audit” to fix them. The tone sounds friendly and professional — even using phrases like “I appreciate the opportunity to support your business.”

The emails may even include our Wix Certified Partner title or logo to appear authentic.

But here’s the truth: Savvy Tech Advice will never reach out this way or use scare tactics to sell services.

🧭 How to Spot a Fake

Protecting yourself is simple once you know what to look for.

✅ Official communication from Savvy Tech Advice only comes from an email address ending in our domain name, for example: info@savvytechadvice.com

🚫 We will never:

  • Send messages from Gmail or any free email domain.

  • Ask for payment, passwords, or account access through an unsolicited email.

  • Use fear-based or urgent language about your site being “flagged,” “restricted,” or “at risk”.

If you receive an email that feels off or doesn’t sound like how we usually communicate, trust your instincts and check with us before replying.

💬 What to Do if You Receive One

If you get a suspicious email claiming to be from Savvy Tech Advice:

  • Do not click any links or reply.

  • Forward or screenshot the message to us so we can verify it.

  • If the message came from any email address that doesn’t end in our domain name, like Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo, click the three dots in the top right corner and choose “Report phishing.”

  • If you ever receive an email claiming to be from Wix, take a moment to double-check the sender’s full email address or just ask us directly. We’ll confirm whether it’s legitimate before you take any action.

🔍 Why These Scams Happen

As small-business partners and certified web professionals, our names and brands are visible online, making us occasional targets for impersonation attempts.

Scammers scrape real websites, copy signatures, and mimic legitimate communication styles to trick people into thinking they’re dealing with someone they trust.

Unfortunately, these scams have become increasingly common in the web design industry. The good news is that awareness is the best defense.

💙 Our Commitment to You

We’re taking this incident seriously. We’ve already filed reports with Google and Wix, and we’re strengthening our email authentication and security systems to prevent future impersonations.

To stay protected, always remember:

If an email doesn’t come from @savvytechadvice.com, it’s not us.

Please continue to forward or screenshot anything suspicious to info@savvytechadvice.com so we can investigate and help keep our community safe.
